However, not deterred, here are three of my favourite sports-related PNG things that have caught my attention whilst I've been away.
Watson Winning at Wimbledon
Heather Watson won the mixed doubles title with Finnish player Henri Continen back in July. Heather is half Papua New Guinean and her Mum was always to be seen cheering them on throughout the campaign.

Papua New Guinea goes to Rio
PNG took 8 athletes to Rio this Summer including Toea Wisil and Ryan Pini. Sadly no medals were forthcoming, but there was good news for Melanesian cousins Fiji who won their first ever medal - Gold in the men's Rugby Sevens.
Go Go Segeyaro
Leeds Rhinos (my local Rugby League team) have a new Hooker in James Segeyaro. It's great to know there's another Papua New Guinean in the squad after Paul Aiton left to join Catalans.

James seems to be settling in well, both in Leeds and in the team. I hope he stays for a long time and continues to make such a difference to Leeds' game.
So that's three sporting things that have happened in the last six months. I'll have a think and add some more general Papua New Guinea news in another post. Any ideas what I might choose?
I've just discovered a much less laborious way to transcribe the Time Beyond Tumbuna stories so expect a much more regular appearance of them in future.
